About

Sophotec is my way to deal with the complexity of life. My Name is Johannes Bhakdi, and I believe in our ability to observe, understand and change ourselves and the world around us in the image of a better future.

The name Sophotec is derived from the ancient Greek words “Sophia” (Wisdom1) and “Techne” (Instrument).  The idea behind it is as simple as elegant: wisdom is the decisive means to improve our world, and therefore the most effective way to improve our world is to develop a technology that allows us to measure, engineer and optimize this means.

Over the last 12 years, I have searched for the best way to build this technology. My quest has led me to the most unexpected and interesting fields of human engagement with the world: from consulting practice to failed Social Sciences, from visual knowledge to the publishing industry, from Harvard to Humboldt University, and from obscure Chinese Wisdom to outdated Western philosophy.

This quest has led to my decision that Sophotec is build on a truly unique line of thought on human progress, wisdom theory, and the most important related fields such as the world, economics, media and the Web 3.0, and our personal lives. On Sophotec.com, my mission is to bring this line of thought to you, to encourage you to contribute your extensions to this line of thought, and to build a community in the spirit of wisdom enabled human progress.

For in the end, I realized that at the heart of any wisdom technology does not stand a collection of software, knowledge and mind technologies, but a community of people committed to the grand idea.

So I invite you to browse Sophotec.com, leave your comments, and consider to contribute to the advancement of wisdom and progress. And while some doubt the human ability to enlighten and progress, you can count on Sophotec to hold these truths up high, in good times and in bad times:

Wisdom prevails. Progress for all.
